Employee Safety & Hygene

  • It is not allowed employees with open wounds.
  • It is not allowed employees eating in the harvest area.
  • It is not allowed smoking in the harvest area
  • Toilet facilities are provided for men and women.
  • A minimum of one double (men and women) toilet facility is provided for each group of 20 employees.
  • Toilet facilities are placed _ mile from the harvest area
  • Toilet facilities have visual signs, written in the appropriate languages, reminding employees to wash their hands before retiring to work.
  • Toilet facilities are made of materials that are easy to clean.
  • The toilet facilities are maintained in a clean condition.
  • The catch basins of the toilet are designed to prevent contamination in the field
  • Toilet basins are emptied outside the growing area
  • The toilet facilities are provided with toilet paper, soap towels and water to wash their hands.
  • It’s obligatory for the employees to wash their hands before starting harvesting or in break periods.
  • The company will provide fresh drinking water for field workers.
  • The company will provide first aid kits in all the harvesting areas.

Harvest Practices

  • The carton storage area is clean and has a rodent pest control program.
  • The harvest equipment machines are subject to a cleaning schedule program.
  • The harvest knives are made of stainless steel.
  • All harvest knives are collected, cleaned and sanitized each day.
  • The water used to rinse the product is treated with hipoclorite sodium at 12%
  • Chlorine concentrations are checked on a frequent basis (200 ppm).
  • It is prohibited the use of glass containers inside the harvest area.
  • Food Security

  • Access to the harvest area and related equipment is controlled.
  • Harvest crew members are directed to report entry of unauthorized individuals.
  • Packing materials are stored in a secure area with controlled access.
  • Employee belongings are placed in a secure and clean area.
  • Water sources are tested periodically for contamination.
  • Ground History

  • The growing area has been used only for the production of vegetables for more than ten years.
  • There is no presence of domestic animals (dogs, horses, etc.) In the growing operation.
  • The growing area is not near an industrial site (chemical, steel, etc.) or wastewater facility that may emit toxic waste into the surrounding air or waters.
  • Fertilizer and Water Usage

  • There is no use of any compost materials on the growing area.
  • There are applications of chemical products, and records of each lot are current.
  • The crops are irrigated with sprinklers and gated pipes.
  • There is a conduct water system under land in all growing areas, this system avoid water waste.
  • All the water use for the growing areas comes from well property of the company.
  • Water is test for (E. coli. and Salmonella) by third party companies before the season begins.
  • The wells are designed to prevent animal access.
  • Pest Control

  • The growing area has been used only for the production of vegetables for more than ten years.
  • There is no presence of domestic animals (dogs, horses, etc.) In the growing operation.
  • The growing area is not near an industrial site (chemical, steel, etc.) or wastewater facility that may emit toxic waste into the surrounding air or waters.
  • Food Safety

  • Vehicle access to the farm control measures are in place.
  • Access is restricted to facilities (unauthorized entry signs posted, etc.)
  • Gates are located at entrances to ranch – level roads.
